Job Summary

The Senior Director – Education and Non-Profit Banking leads the business unit’s strategy, development, and growth. This role focuses on setting strategy, revenue/profitability growth, deepening client relationships, and collaborating internally to ensure delivery of innovative banking products tailored to education and non-profit industry vertical clients The Senior Director collaborates across Product, 1LOD and 2LOD Credit and Risk, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with client objectives and the bank’s strategic direction. Additionally, this position plays a key role in identifying market trends, identifying key competitive needs within its industry vertical, ensuring seamless client management, client experience, and growth in business unit profitability.

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Revenue/Sales Growth

  • Develop and execute a strategic growth strategy for Education and Non-Profit Banking, ensuring alignment with the bank’s long-term strategic objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business and market expansion opportunities, leveraging market insights and client needs to expand Education and Non-Profit Banking client relationships.
  • Partner with senior executive management Credit and Product teams to enhance bank’s competitive positioning and effective client coverage.

Product & Solutions Cross-Sell

  • Ensure effective product sales management strategies and seamless delivery of all applicable bank products (credit, deposits, payments, derivatives/hedging products) to the Education and Non-Profit Banking specialty industry vertical.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to enhance Education and Non-Profit Banking product offerings, ensuring they meet market demands and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Technology and Product teams to solution sell and drive digital banking product adoption for Education and Non-Profit Banking clients.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a thought leader and senior advisor to Education and Non-Profit Banking clients, providing tailored financial solutions and strategic insights.
  • Lead high-impact client engagements, fostering long-term partnerships and ensuring business unit growth by building strong client relationships.
  • Oversee the delivery of customized banking products, including effective delivery of all bank products and services to clients in Education and Non-Profit Banking industry vertical.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Leads development of a high performing sales and relationship management team including recruitment, hiring, coaching, training, and professional development, performance evaluations, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with all Risk and Compliance requirements. Exit of non-performers as required.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance training. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum experience required: 12 Years of experience in Education and Non-Profit industry, commercial, corporate and public sector banking, or a related financial services field.
  • Deep understanding of education and non-profit client needs and ability to sell full suite of bank products.
  • Strong track record of sales and client relationship management, new business development, revenue growth, and strategic leadership in financial services.
  • Exceptional relationship management, negotiation, and communication/presentation skills.
  • Expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and banking operations.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education level preferred: Master's Degree (or Postgraduate equivalent) MBA or CFA preferred.

Job Competencies:

  • Understanding of macroeconomic trends, interest rates, and market conditions impacting Education and Non-Profit Banking clients.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute growth strategies and prospect for new customer relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills, including talent development, coaching, and team-building.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration across Risk, Product, and Customer Service/Operations teams.
  • Track record of business development, revenue growth, and expanding client relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills to structure complex financial solutions.

  • Strong financial acumen and credit analysis skills, including risk assessment and deal structuring.
  • Data-driven decision-making, leveraging financial models and portfolio analytics.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving ability in a dynamic and evolving financial landscape.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations (KYC/AML, Basel III, Dodd-Frank) and compliance requirements.
  • Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results.
  • Builds trusted prospect and client relationships both internally and externally.
  • Fosters or supports a high performance and positive work culture and productive work environment, displaying importance of effective relationship management with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Travel is a job requirement.
