The Trade Finance Manager oversees the Trade Finance Department, ensuring the delivery of compliant, high-quality services and products that support the Bank’s international trade operations. This role includes managing staff, reviewing Letters of Credit applications, performing quality control, and maintaining accurate and reconciled trade finance processes. The manager also serves as the primary liaison with relationship banks and trade partners, handling documentary collections, wire approvals, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal policy standards.Pay Range: Local Minimum Wage - $0.00 - $0.00
Job Responsibilities:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise a team of leads, analysts, associates and/or administrators responsible for commercial trade finance functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing/responses.
- Oversee preparation to book commitment, issuances, payments, documentation presentation, bankers' acceptance, extension, cancellation or any other needed changes via internal systems and procedures; including wire approvals and ongoing maintenance/charges through the lifecycle of the transaction.
- Monitor work queues, documentation, volumes, service levels, KPI’s and exception reports to ensure operational standards and SLAs are met; approval and oversight of GL reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal documents, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
- Collaborate with the credit, audit, legal, compliance, servicing, and technology teams to support the full transaction lifecycle.
- Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and automation opportunities.
- Participates in strategic planning for growth of Trade Finance business. Provides support and education on the expanded trade finance products to SVP, Senior Management, Lenders, Group Directors, Fin'l centers, Clients and US Bank/Wells Fargo
- Assists new business with potential clients/transactions by attending joint calls with clients.
- Assist in operational readiness for new products, systems, and process changes.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Uses independent judgment and discretion to make decisions in management of the team and QC of work product.
- Analyzes and resolves problems pertaining to Letters of Credit and Trade Finance.
- Responsible for talent management functions including: employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with compliance requirements.
- Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent and at least 6 years financial institution experience with 5 in Trade Finance; or 10 years of equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum experience required: 4 Years managerial experience in oversight of people, processes or programs in a large commercial bank or related financial institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) preferred
- Knowledge of Commercial Loan Servicing. Including knowledge of CRE, C&I, construction, and SBA loan products and familiarity with core servicing systems (e.g. ACBS, AFSVision, nCino, etc.)
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., HMDA, CRA, FDIC) and internal controls.
- Familiarity with vendor oversight or offshore operations.
- Process improvement mindset; Lean Six Sigma or similar certification a plus.
- Certifications such as CDCS, CITF, or ACAMS are a plus.
Job Competencies:
- Strong understanding of trade finance products and corresponding regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage operational teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Physical demands (ADA): The job requires a moderate degree of physical exertion and stamina such as standing, sitting, walking, driving or infrequent lifting.
