Job Summary
Pay Range: $21-33/hrJOB SUMMARY
The Check Operations Specialist Senior for Item Processing is a subject matter expert in check processing and reconciliation, responsible for overseeing complex operational tasks, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting strategic initiatives. This role serves as a key resource for process improvement, client support, and business continuity planning. The Senior Specialist works independently and collaboratively to resolve high impact issues and mentor junior staff.
Job Responsibilities:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advanced File Review and Data Accuracy Oversight
- Lead the review and correction of incoming check file data. Identify systemic issues and recommend process enhancements.
- Complex Customer Adjustments
- Handle escalated check negotiability cases and ensure accurate creation of customer adjustments. Provide guidance on exception handling.
- Lockbox Operations and Client Reporting
- Oversee lockbox remittance preparation, scanning and submission. Develop and deliver customized reporting solutions for high value clients
- Reconciliation and Exception Management
- Perform and review account and transaction reconciliations. Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies
- Regulatory compliance
- Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations. Serve as a liaison with Compliance and Audit teams during reviews and assessments
- rocess Improvement and Documentation
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency. Document procedures and contribute to standard operation procedural development
- Business Continuity and Contingency Support
- Lead business continuity planning and testing. Support risk mitigation strategies and contingency operations.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance training. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent Minimum experience required: 2 Years in Banking Operations
Job Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong understanding of check negotiability, lockbox operations and reconciliation practices
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Physical demands (ADA): No unusual physical exertion is involved.
